If you are an international student and wants to stay in Australia after finishing study then you
might qualify for the Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485). This Australian visa enables you
to live, study, and work in the country for up to 6 years.
The 485 visa lets you work in Australia and gain work experience. You can work either full-time
or part-time. It can help you get other types of visas, like the skilled visa subclass 189 or 190.
It might be a way to become a resident forever. We can help you to get full assistance on

you are interested to apply for a 485 visa after your graduation.
The visa has four streams:
Graduate Work stream
Post-Study Work stream
Second Post-Study Work stream
Replacement stream
The duration of the visa and how much the visa will cost, will be different depending on which

Latest Update on 485 Visa (Extended post study work rights announced)
International students who finish their studies at an Australian university can now work in
Australia for a longer period of time if they have certain qualifications. This was announced by
the Australian government. Some people can now work in certain jobs for two more years. If you
work in certain jobs that are in demand, like healthcare, teaching, engineering or farming, then
you are eligible for those additional two years. This is great news for students who have studied
or want to study in country areas because they can still work there for an extra year after
finishing their studies.
Effective from 1 July 2023, eligible students will have post study work rights increased to:
Four years for select Bachelor degrees (+ one additional year in regional areas)
Five years for select Masters degrees (+ one additional year in regional areas)
Six years for all Doctoral degrees (+ one additional year in regional areas)
Eligible Occupations and Qualifications
If you are doing a PhD, you can get this measure no matter what subject you are studying. The
subjects are not listed separately. This document shows a shortened version of the qualifications
that are allowed. The Department of Education will release a complete list of courses with their
codes on 1 July, 2023. Students should check the full list, when it’s available, to make sure that
their course at their school is eligible.
The requirement for the Temporary Graduate visa will be changed to keep Australia competitive
and attractive destination for overseas students to study.
