What is the 482 visa Medium Term Stream
Subclass 482: Temporary Skill Shortage Visa
Australian companies can sponsor a competent person to fill a position for which they are unable to obtain a qualified Australian candidate by using the Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482). There are 4 different streams available for this visa: Short Term, Medium, Labor Agreement, and Subsequent Entrant. One will be qualified for the visa (subclass 482) in the medium-term stream if you list a profession on the MLTSSL. A visa (subclass 482) for up to four years may be awarded in the medium-term stream, and if your employer so chooses, they may propose you a pathway to permanent residency following three years of employment under your visa (subclass 482). Additional requirements must be satisfied in order to submit an application for a permanent visa. Please refer to the ENS transition stream for temporary housing.
An Australian firm may sponsor a foreign worker to work for them in Australia by using the Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482), popularly known as the “TSS visa.” This particular work visa was introduced on March 19th, 2019. It replaced the Temporary Work Visa Subclass 457, which the DHA canceled. If you are able to fill a position with an Australian company that is willing to hire you, you might be eligible for the TSS visa.
Three (3) streams make up the TSS visa:
- The stream of the short-term
- The stream for the mid-term
- The stream of the Labor Agreement
You can select the stream that applies to you using the Consolidated Skilled Occupations List. If your occupation qualifies you for the short-term stream, your TSS visa will only be given for a maximum of two (2) years. If your occupation qualifies you for the medium-term stream, your TSS visa can only be issued for a maximum of four (4) years.
MEDIUM-TERM TSS SUBCLASS 482 VISA
With the option to apply for permanent residency after three years, this stream enables Australian firms to fill labor shortages for up to four years by hiring highly trained foreign workers.
