Work Stream Visas for Permanent Residency – Full Guide

• Skilled regional visa Subclass 887: You can use this route to settle in Australia if you currently hold a subclass 489, 495, 496, 475, or 487 visa, or a Bridging visa A or B after applying for a subclass 489, 495, or 487 visa, and you previously had an eligible visa that allowed you to live and work in certain regional areas of Australia.
• Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491):  For eligibility under this visa, you must meet the skill requirement and get sponsorship or nomination from either state or region or territory.

• The Australia investor visa or the Subclass 891 visa: It is for immigrants who wish to start a business or want to undertake investment activities in Australia. With this visa you can stay in the country indefinitely.
•             Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa Subclass 187: This visa enables skilled professionals to reside and work permanently in Australia if they are nominated by their employer in regional Australia.
• Employer Nomination Scheme visa Subclass 186: This may be your best option for immigration if an Australian employer nominates you and you possess the necessary skill set to live and work there.
• Global talent visa Subclass 858: As the name implies, if you have been an internationally recognized expert in your field for the previous two years, have been nominated by an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, an eligible NZ citizen, or an Australian organization with a national reputation in your field, you may be able to obtain a PR in about three months. At the time of application, the candidate must be a resident of Australia.

• Distinguished Talent visa Subclass 124: if you have been an internationally recognized expert in your field for the previous two years, have been nominated by an eligible Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, eligible NZ citizen, or Australian organization with a national reputation in your field, this may be the path to getting a PR in about two years. At the time of application, the individual must be outside of Australia

*Under the Special Eligibility stream, 100 newcomers will be allowed to enter under special conditions. Included in this stream will also be permanent residents returning to Australia after their stay abroad.
